The new span of the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge opened on Monday night, September 2, 2013. It was originally scheduled to open early Tuesday morning, so the time made it just perfect to head out to get some shots. This is from the top of Yerba Buena Island, which sits in the middle of the bay and bisects the bridge. Thankfully the fog decided to take the night off.
Graduating from San Jose State University with a BS in photojournalism, Don Hoekwater moved away from photographing events to more artistic and creative imaging. While his photographs retain their realism, Don expands the colors and details that result in beautifully stunning views full of color and awe. The vision is to enhance what nature and the surrounding world provide without taking away any of the wonder and majesty of our world. When working with people the goal is to also enhance the beauty and dignity already within each and every one of us.
With a Canon 6D with a variety of lenses, along with digital editing software such as Lightroom and Photoshop, Don specializes in scenic landscapes and seascapes, living in one of the most beautiful areas in the world, as well as fashion portraiture, often combining the two. Don is an award-winning photographer. He has been published in several magazines and online publications, and was featured as a Guest Blogger by world renowned commercial photographer Ron Martinsen.
