A gorgeous sunbeam shines through trees of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest highlighting the McCloud River. I was shooting the Lower McCloud Falls when I turned and noticed these wonderful beams.
However, the smoke that helped create this beautiful scene came from the absolute disaster and destruction of the Camp Fire that wiped out thousands of homes and businesses, and took the lives of 88 people. The largest fire in the history of California shows that nature in it's infinite beauty is still in charge. I will always look at these with a thought of sadness for all those affected.
